Offers very pretty, polished Pinot Noir character. Feels rich and silky in the mouth, with flavors of raspberries, cherries, cola and spices - The Wine Enthusiast, March 2010

The vineyard where these grapes were sourced is only a few miles from the ocean. The cool breezes allow the clusters the perfect amount of time to ripen. The two barrels of this Pinot were aged on French Oak for 18 months. This wine is unfined and unfiltered to preserve the natural qualities of the grapes and the wine itself. The Two Faced Pinot Noir opens up with big raspberry and dried cranberry aromas and flavors. This is a balanced wine, with lightly toasty oak, sandalwood spice, and a white pepper, slightly tannic and nicely dry finish. Anderson Valley pinot noirs tend to have more acidity and elegance than most California pinots, and the Two Faced is no exception. Drink this wine with the classic pinot pairings: grilled salmon, lamb chops and roast duck. Enjoy the Two Faced now or cellar it for up to 5 to 7 years.

Wine Advocate August 2008

The palate shows good focus and general zinginess. There's also a reasonable degree of mealy, lees-type influence in the flavour profile that provides a nice counterpoint to tight, bright fruit character. On entry, very refreshing and bright, with ultra-fine acid firming the wine's line. Reasonable intensity, though not mouth-shattering either. A lovely mineral lift through the after palate seems to linger for an unreasonably long time, generating both satisfaction and the desire for another glass. Very dry, very fine finish.

The 2006 vintage is a very strong one for Bois de Boursan, and its regular cuvée of 2006 Châteauneuf du Pape is outstanding. Beautiful deep plum / purple color. The color alone sets this example apart from most others sampled recently from this appellation. Deeply fruited aromatics, too, are singular for this example and include richly scented nuances of red raspberries, ripe plums and that classic nuance of a Provencal Village. These aromas of spice and ripe red and blue fruits, with hints of black olive, are classic southern French. Soft, supple and deeply fruited flavors on the palate combine that plummy nuance from the aromas with silky tannins to coat the palate with blue fruits and zero hard edges. A beautiful example of a classic southern French "house wine" that will showcase your roasted chicken or leg of lamb with herbs to a "T".

Forward, vivid aromas of raspberry and strawberry leadthe way with this light rosé. Engaging red berry flavors, presented in an elegant style, linger on the delicate finish. It’s a gentle, somewhat understated wine, as fresh as can be and thoroughly charming.

An assemblage of 60% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah. Deep colour with a youthful purple rim, the nose reveals open, attractive dark fruits and spice. Accessible layered fruit on the palate, which is gently mouthfilling, with a pleasing freshness. There is something earthy here too, and the fruit is reminiscent of wild hedgerow fruits, very fruity, juicy and succulent. The tannins are gently assertive, they will not preclude early drinking though this will undoubtedly evolve over the short-term.

Charming, fruity, rosé blend of Prosecco and Pinot Noir. Pretty nose, pretty palate. Both varietals show: cherry and apple. Fresh and delightful. Just the right mousse. Delicious wine.

From the Montello area of the Trevigiani hills in the Veneto region of Italy, the Prosecco grape in it’s basic version shows its elegance and simplicity. It’s proven quality has rendered it a must-drink for all “bubbly” lovers. The lightness together with a lovely frangrance have made this version an ideal every-day aperitif. In the nose and in the taste it gives off a very appreciable smooth and fresh aftertaste. Goes well with fish, soups and aromatic pasta and rice dishes.

On the palate you get more grape jam, blackcurrant, ripe blueberry, black raspberry and hints of black pepper and vanilla spice. Acidity is low, tannins are medium. The deep yellow, green color is a rich sensation for the eyes. Fat aromatics of baked pears, warm slate and slight notes of almonds and figs are intoxicating. There’s a lot of complexity here for the price. The grapefruit, pear, green apple and pineapple flavors are bright and juicy, and the mineral and white pepper background notes add interest.

A blend of Malvasia (70%) and Chardonnay, the Chardonnay being aged on its lees. Lovely dried apricot nose with little floral touches. On the palate there is body and a creaminess to the texture, with lovely fruit definition and a really crisp, lively finish with no blowsiness. Very satisfyingly balanced, textured and crisp.

Dazzling golden yellow, on the nose it is intense, complex; sage and rose scents emerge followed by bright accents of citruses (bergamot) and other fruits. Significant balance on the palate, divided between the citrus acidity, coherent with the nose, the right sapidity and the pleasant roundness. Clean finish, enjoyable and of long persistence. Great with white meat, aromatic risotto and rich pasta dishes.

The peculiarities of Sauvignon, Tocai Friulano and Pinot Bianco shape the nature of this wine, where the aromatic union of these three grapes is the result of a scrupulous and diligent research. After a separate wine making and short aging in barrique barrels there is the assemblage that highlights the aromatics of Tocai, the crisp acidity of Pinot Bianco and the intensity and length of flavor from the Sauvignon grapes.

There is a New World ripe expression of fruit in the nose, along with perfume, green herbs and some minerality. In the mouth there is ample acidity with some thick, fleshy fruit as well to fill it out. There is a little phenolic grip, like biting into the grape skin, which might be a result of the extended contact of skin to juice after pressing.

Bright ruby red. intense, with notes of red fruit that recall red cherries and black cherries. The freshness of Sangiovese and the enveloping tannin of Sagrantino make this wine harmonic, with a long and pleasant finish.
(Their website says 60% Sangiovese, 40% Sagrantino; Back label says 90% Sangiovese; 10% Montepulciano - because it's grown in Montefalco we believe that it contains the Sagrantino as their website states)

An IGT Negroamaro. The colour is quite a bright cherry red, with a a great deal of leafiness, giving positively nettly notes to cherry fruit. On the palate a deal of that herbal bite again, with a broader, quite liquoricy and chicory edge. Grippy, spicy and mouth-filling in the finish.
Dave Desimone wrote about this in his article about the Pittsburgh Wine Festival CLICK HERE to read it.

Seventy percent Negroamaro with Cabernet Sauvignon, aged eight months in Nevers and Tronçais barriques. The Cabernet is quite dominant on the nose, with a thick plum and black berry fruit and a little touch of something like black olive. The palate has a certain dustiness to the flavour profile, with plenty of fat, sweet fruit and plenty of herbs and spices coming through. But a little touch of green tannin adds a bit of earthy character that works well in the finish.

IGT Primitivo. A slightly baked quality here, with baked plum pie and a touch of herby quality. On the palate quite creamy and rich, with a little bit of stewed prune, but the sweetness and weight of the Primitivo coming through with some style.

50% Aglianico, 50% Petit Verdot. The wine possesses very definite characters, such as an impressive intensity of perfumes, coupled with the “readiness” and harmonious roundness of its tannins, as well as the extreme length of its aftertastes. Its strong personality is mainly the result of a unique balance of the microclimate and terroir of the vineyards where the grapes are produced: the Aglianico on its “white” clay soil and the Petit Verdot the extremely calcareous and rocky soil of the former cuccagna. Spending 15-16 months in new mildly “toasted” French oak donates to L’Astore a distinctive touch of elegance and complexity without altering, but rather integrating the already rich qualities of its original ingredients.

Deep black almandine ruby with black reflections and almandine rim. Intense bouquet with India ink mingled with greenish sandalwood accents and underlying bitterness, hardwood ash and sea salt, with hits of green leather and underlying cherry and forest berry fruit. Quite a bit going on, in a young key that's in mid stride. On the palate full, with fairly intense cherry fruit supported by dusky graphite bitterness, while direction comes from equally dusky savory acidity, and it flows into a clean savory fruit laced finish that gains definition from underlying bitterness. Elegant, in a youthfully muscular key, and will gain considerably with time.

This wine is obtained from a carefull selection of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Montepulciano, and 10% Syrah grapes. It has an intense ruby color with purple reflections and the persistent scent of wild and black cherries. Smooth and very well-balanced on the palate, it is substained by a good tannic/acid structure giving the wine perfect balance.

Familiar terms like sour cherry, blackcurrant liquor (cassis), aniseed, eucalyptus and exotic spices doesn’t really do justice to this Brunello.

Sexto is a blend of six different grapes: Grenache, Carignan, Tempranillo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and the ancient grape Lledoner Pelut Noir. In fact, it is the addition of that sixth varietal (a cousin to Grenache) that makes all the difference. Laely Heron wanted to make a wine that is original - traditional with a modern twist. She has succeeded - majorly. Sexto is fresh, fruit-laden, spicy and quite distinctive. This delicious wine captures the unmistakable flavor and character of northeastern Spain.
